Of the top 10 cities in the U.S. with the most working seniors, 50 percent of them are in Texas, according to a new report from Provision Living Senior Living Communities. The cities included Plano (ranked first), Garland (fifth), Austin (sixth), Dallas (eighth), and Irving (tenth). In all of these cities, more than 20 percent of the senior population is still working.

"Surprisingly, large metro cities didn’t make much of an appearance on the list. Less than half of the cities within the top 25 have a population of 500,000 or more. In fact, cities like New York and Chicago didn’t even make the top 50, according to our analysis," Provision Living Senior Living Communities said in its report.

Data from cities with a population of 200,000 or more was analyzed via the Census Bureau. From there, Provision Living Senior Living Communities was able to determine what percentage of each city’s senior population (age 65 and over) is currently in the workforce.
