Texas Ranked America's Most Sinful States In 2019

Texans love being bad.

Texas was ranked as the fourth most sinful state in the U.S. according to a new report from personal-finance website WalletHub. To determine its ranking, WalletHub compared the 50 states on seven sinful behaviors: anger and hatred, jealousy, excesses and vices, greed, lust, vanity and laziness, the organization said in a news release.

"[T[he cost of state sins is something we have to share as a nation. Gambling alone costs the U.S. about $5 billion per year. That’s nothing compared to the amount of money we lose from smoking, though – over $300 billion per year. Harmful behavior on the individual level can add up to staggering economic costs on a national scale," Wallethub added.

The most sinful state was Nevada, followed by Florida, California, and then Texas.
