2-Year-Old Child's Death Under Investigation In Arlington

Police say the child did not die of natural causes.

ARLINGTON, TX — Police are investigating after a 2-year-old child's death in Arlington that authorities say was not due to natural circumstances.

Police responded to the 800 block of Timberlake Drive around 1:28 a.m. on Saturday for the report of a child not breathing. The toddler was taken to a hospital where she later died.

Police say they interviewed multiple people and two initial arrests were made for outstanding misdemeanor warrants.

According to police, Shamonica Page and Derick Roberson were arrested on misdemeanor warrants out of Pantego and Fort Worth respectively.

A preliminary investigation showed the child did not die from natural causes and an autopsy will be conducted.

Two other children at the home have been released to Texas Child Protective Services.

The child was identified as Aniyah Darnell.
