Actor Matthew McConaughey And Rangers To Host Play Ball Event

The team's partnership with McConaughey and his foundation dates back to May 2011.

ARLINGTON, TX -- The Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation and Matthew McConaughey's just keep livin foundation will host a Rangers Play Ball event at the Texas Rangers MLB Youth Academy Tuesday. The event will take place in the Globe Life Training Center, the Rangers said in a news release.

From 4:00-6:00 p.m., students from the three just keep livin foundation program high schools, Sam Houston High School (Arlington), Pinkston High School (Dallas), and Eastern Hills High School (Fort Worth), will participate in a variety of baseball and softball activities. They will also have the opportunity to visit with and hear from McConaughey.

The Rangers Foundation partnered with McConaughey and his foundation in May 2011 to create an after-school program centered on encouraging students to improve their physical and mental health through exercise, teamwork, gratitude, nutrition, and community service, the Rangers said.

"Eight years in, the partnership is still going strong. After joining the Texas Rangers just keep livin program, 92 percent of students improve their grades, 96 percent get more exercise, and 98 percent graduate from high school. Additionally, 100 percent of them say that this program has helped them create new, positive relationships and reduce stress and anxiety in their everyday life," the Rangers added.
