ARLINGTON, TX -- Former Dallas Cowboys star Jason Witten hanging up the suit and tie worn on ESPN's Monday Night Football and donning the blue and white once again. The 11-time Pro Bowl tight end made the announcement Thursday confirming his return to the NFL and the team that drafted him in the third round in 2003.

"The fire inside of me to compete and play this game is just burning too strong," Witten said in a statement, according to ESPN. "This team has a great group of rising young stars, and I want to help them make a run at a championship. This was completely my decision, and I am very comfortable with it. I'm looking forward to getting back in the dirt."

Witten is 36-years-old. He formally retired on May 3, 2018 after finishing the season with 63 receptions for 560 yards and five touchdowns.
