Mayfest Festival Delays Opening Until 5 p.m. Due To Weather
The Mayfest festival in Fort Worth will delay its opening until 5 p.m. because of the severe weather earlier in the day.

The Mayfest festival in Fort Worth will delay its opening until 5 p.m. because of the severe weather earlier Thursday, according to the festival website.
A line of thunderstorms brought heavy rain and lightning to the Dallas-Fort Worth area beginning about 11 a.m. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch issued for most of North Texas expired at 2 p.m. Thursday. The thunderstorms have now moved to the East Texas area.
Early Thursday afternoon, downed power lines on I-30 in Fort Worth caused some traffic issues. The heavy rain caused some high water in areas of Trinity Park.

Weather also affected flights from area airports, causing some delays.

Better weather is expected for the weekend with the forecast calling for dry conditions and low humidity. The forecast calls for temperatures in the 80s on Saturday.
