Merryhill School Students Celebrate Earth Day

Students participated in a weeklong Earth Day celebration, which included releasing ladybugs in their schoolyard to help local vegetation

Students at Merryhill Preschool & Elementary School in Arlington have been buzzing with excitement for Earth Day! Students recently celebrated Earth Day and taking care of the planet by releasing hundreds of ladybugs throughout the schoolyard and back into the environment on plants, flowers and trees. Students also participated in a variety of additional activities throughout the week to celebrate Earth Day, such as a recycling drive, making bird feeders from recycled materials and planting seeds.

Leading up to Earth Day, students learned that ladybugs serve as a natural pesticide by feeding on insects that could otherwise harm the health of gardens, trees and shrubs. Merryhill Preschool & Elementary School teaches the importance of community and exploring nature at a young age.
