New Exhibitions Open At Arlington Museum Of Art

Two new exhibitions are now open at the Arlington Museum of Art in Downtown.

The first features the work of German Renaissance master printmaker Albrecht Dürer. According to the Museum's website, Dürer was an extraordinary innovator who revolutionized the medium of printmaking in the late fifteenth century. Trained as a goldsmith, the painter, etcher and draftsman was praised for the remarkable compositional complexity and high level of naturalism in his works. Dürer established an international reputation for his remarkable skills in printmaking, which he single-handedly elevated to an independent art form.

The exhibition features several prints in a range of subjects. It also looks at work from Dürer's contemporaries.

The second new exhibit, "Portraits," features work from photographer Dennis Hevia. Hevia says he was inspired by the evolution of portraits over time — including how little has changed in the art form. Hevia's work pays tribute to some of the genre's most famous names including Rembrandt and Vermeer.

Both exhibitions run through Feb. 23, 2020. Admission is $10 for adults, and $5 for children, students and seniors. Children under 12 get in free when visiting with a family. The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.
