Students at Merryhill School in Arlington Take Virtual Field Trip

Fourth, fifth and sixth grade students virtually traveled to the Texas State Capitol and the Alamo with nonprofit Education in Action

Fourth, fifth and sixth grade students from Merryhill Preschool & Elementary School in Arlington recently took a virtual field trip to Austin and San Antonio through Education in Action’s Discover Texas Field Trip In a Box program to learn about Texas history. During the field trip, students virtually explored the Texas State Capitol and the Alamo. Students also received a box full of hands-on games, activities and souvenirs to supplement their virtual visits to the famous Texas sites.

Education in Action led the virtual tour of the Texas State Capitol, where students experienced the many paintings, sculptures and terrazzo mosaics that tell the story of Texas’ unique history and famous leaders. Students also learned about the state’s legislative branch of government as they viewed the Texas State Senate and House of Representatives chambers where state laws are made. Later, students virtually visited the Alamo, the site of one of the most famous missions in the U.S., and gained insight into the Battle of the Alamo’s role in the Texas Revolution.

Education in Action is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering educated and involved young people. For more information about Education in Action, visit www.educationinaction.org.
