Houston Lands 2024 College Football National Championship Game

Despite not hosting a major bowl game, Space City will host the biggest college game for the 2023-24 season

HOUSTON, TX — Houston was chosen as the host city for the College Football Playoff national championship game, which will be played Jan. 8, 2024 at NRG to conclude the 2023-24 season. The CFP committee currently selects the top four teams at the end of regular season to play in a two-weekend playoff, with two semifinals played at major bowls and the championship at another neutral site. However, the committee could expand its playoff base to six or eight teams by 2023-24

Houston has recently hosted the Super Bowl this February and the NCAA Men's Final Four in 2016.

"The community has demonstrated its mettle for college sports by hosting two outstanding Final Fours and very successful Super Bowls," said Bill Hancock, the executive director of the College Fotball Playoff.
