Houston Man Has Argument With Girlfriend, Gives Her Purple Kale To Make Up

Man has argument with his girlfriend, feels bad, and sends her flowers. This scenario plays out hundreds of times a day in the U.S. alone. It works every time. But what if you send purple kale to your girlfriend instead of roses? One Houston man recently found out.

"At the produce section at my job, I was walking through the aisle toward the end of the day, and I saw this one box on the floor, and there were no more boxes by it," Jamarcus Guillory, that man, told WBIR. "It was just the only box, and I looked inside of it, and I saw kale what I thought was a flower, it looked beautiful."

Guillory wanted to give Jailyn Hernandez, his girlfriend, something special to make up for an argument they had had, and the purple bouquet looked perfect.

"I thought it was funny," Hernandez said of her kale gift. "What he did was so sweet, so different. He's the best boyfriend I've ever had."

What happened next took the kale funny around the nation: Hernandez tweeted the gift, and it spread like wildfire.

"I was sleeping and he woke me up by knocking on my window," Hernandez told Mashable. "I went to go open the door and he had the lettuce in his hand with a big smile. I just started laughing so much. After, I hugged and kissed him. He didn't [know] what it was until I told him it was lettuce. My mom was right by the door and she was laughing, too, but she also thought it was cute."
