New Cafe Opens in Evelyn's Park: Report

The Ivy & James will serve home-grown foods from sustainable sources.

HOUSTON, TX — A new cafe that opened its doors Monday in Evelyn's Park will devote its menu to home-grown comfort food from sustainable sources. The Ivy & James restaurant will serve diners inside the park's rebuilt "Little Yellow House," reported the Houston Chronicle.

The new cafe opens at 8 a.m. each day to serve breakfast and lunch, and later this summer, plans call for serving dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with guests dining under the park's live oaks, according to the Chronicle.

The breakfast menu includes muffins, granola and yogurt, biscuits and gravy, mixed fruit and coffee. Lunch includes salads, hummus and pita, sandwiches and flat breads. The cafe will also prepare picnic lunches to be enjoyed in the park.

The Ivy & James is operated by Jamie and Dalia Zelko, who ran the Zelko Bistro in the Heights, according to the Chronicle. The bistro closed in June 2016.

The new cafe is in Evelyn's Park at 4400 Bellaire Blvd. The park, which opened last month on Earth Day, is operated by the Evelyn's Park Conservancy.
