See Salaries Of Houston-Area High School Football Coaches: Report

The Chronicle reported that the highest paid coaches in the Houston area will each receive more than $107,000 in salary this year.

Gary Joseph, who works as athletic director and head football coach at Katy High School, was at the top of a list of highest paid high school football coaches in the Houston area, according to an analysis of data by the Houston Chronicle. Joseph's salary was listed at $$136,374.

Joseph has served for 30 years at the school, including 22 years as the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator, according to the Katy High School Booster Club. Other coaches in the top five include: John Snelson, Dickinson High School with a salary of $135,924; Donald Clayton, Cinco Ranch High School with a salary of $131,374; Todd McVey, Tompkins High School with a salary of $129,033 and Brady Pennington, New Caney High School with a salary of $126,901. The Katy school district had seven coaches in the top 35, the Chronicle reported.

The highest paid coaches will each receive more than $107,000 in salary this year, according to the Chronicle. The analysis was produced by obtaining open records requests, but the Chronicle reported that some large districts did not respond. Those districts included Deer Park, Aldine and Goose Creek.
