Cedar Park Police Officer Struck By Car During Suspect Pursuit

A Cedar Park Police Department officer was hit by a car with a suspect in custody; police add they were not involved in related shooting.

CEDAR PARK, TX — A Cedar Park Police Department officer was struck by a vehicle during a pursuit of a suspect who is now in custody, officials said Wednesday.

The incident occurred along the 2100 block of North Bell Boulevard, according to a police tweet. Officials noted the officer sustained injuries that were not deemed to be life-threatening, and his police canine was also struck.

"The K9 officer and his K9 partner that were struck by a vehicle during today’s pursuit are in stable condition and are expected to fully recover," police wrote on Twitter. "While the suspect is in custody, the investigation is ongoing. Please keep our officers in your prayers."

Police also clarified that officers with the Cedar Park force were not involved in a shooting that occurred during the incident, although details have yet to be provided related to that aspect of the case.

Police declined to release further details. "There will be no press conference tonight," officials wrote on Twitter. "Our investigators are working to gather evidence and we will be able to release more confirmed information tomorrow."
