Cedar Park Shred Event Helps Prevent Identity Theft

Texell Credit Union will host the drive-up event where participants may bring paper containing personal information to be shred, discarded.

CEDAR PARK, TX—Cedar Park is hosting a Shred Day to help protect the identity of participants by shredding their personal information. The drive-up Shred Event is an opportunity to have your personal information and pre-approved credit offers safely discarded.

Identify Theft Statistics

  • Identity theft reports last year more than tripled the number from 2018, reaching 1,387,615 in 2020.
  • Fraudsters stole $3.3 billion from U.S. consumers in 2020.
  • Identity theft cases skyrocketed 2,920% last year in which victims’ information was used to apply for fraudulent government benefits, such as unemployment.

The free Shred Event is scheduled Saturday, May 1 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m., and participants are welcome to bring up to three boxes or bags of paper. For more information, click HERE.
