This will be the first of three Electric Pickle locations the California-based hospitality company has planned for Central Texas.

“Pickleball’s popularity is skyrocketing throughout Central Texas, and we plan to elevate the playing experience by offering artisan food and drinks and other activities in an upscale club environment that is open to the public,” said Eureka Co-Founder Paul Frederick. “Electric Pickle aims to be the Topgolf of pickleball, and Cedar Park is a perfect location due to the community’s proven enthusiasm for family-friendly, sports-themed entertainment.”

Pickleball, which combines aspects of badminton, ping pong and tennis, is the fastest growing sport in the United States, officials said.

The sport is known to be easy to learn and play for all ages. The number of players across the country has grown more than 650 percent in the last six years, according to the USA Pickleball Association, with the biggest share of that growth among players aged 21 to 50.

Eureka Restaurant Group, which operates 25 American gastro pub themed Eureka! restaurants, primarily in California with one Austin location, was founded in 2009.

“Many people play pickleball primarily because it’s an activity they can easily enjoy with friends or family, but most facilities in Austin today don’t offer the opportunity to socialize before and after the game,”said managing partner David Kahn. “We anticipate that Electric Pickle will become a hive of activity throughout the day with baby boomers and families in the morning, professionals on lunch breaks, and young people in the evenings.”

Together the partners plan to open two more Central Texas locations in 2023 — one on Burnet
Road in Central Austin and the other in the Austin suburb of Bee Cave.

The Electric Pickle in Cedar Park will operate seven days a week serving lunch and dinner daily and
brunch and dinner on the weekends.

The complex will have a 9,000-square-foot restaurant with 50,000 square feet of
outdoor patio space that will serve cocktails and global comfort cuisine including Mexico City-inspired tacos, Neapolitan pizzas, Korean protein bowls, sandwiches and backyard-style burgers, authorities said.
