Cedar Park Cop At Center Of Botched Greg Kelley Case Resigns
The mayor and a council member accused the cop at the center of the botched case of perjury after a documentary on the case aired on TV.
CEDAR PARK, TX — The officer at the center of the botched Greg Kelley case resigned on Thursday after the Williamson County district attorney launched an investigation into possible misconduct.
The Kelley case led to the 2014 wrongful conviction of sexual assault of a child and the case was recently dramatized in a documentary titled "Outcry" that aired on Showtime. Mayor Corbin Van Arsdale and council member Mike Guevara filed a complaint accusing lead investigator Sgt. Chris Dailey of the Cedar Park Police Department of committing perjury, referencing testimony that was included in the documentary.
"The City of Cedar Park can confirm that today Officer Chris Dailey resigned from the Cedar Park Police Department, effective immediately," city spokesperson Jennie Huerta told Patch when reached for comment. After Kelley's wrongful conviction, a growing chorus had called for Dailey to resign from the force.

Huerta added: "The City believes the goal of the criminal justice system should be to seek truth and justice, and it expects the dedicated men and women of the Cedar Park Police Department who serve and protect our citizens to act with a high level of professionalism as they work to keep our community safe. To that end, on July 8, Cedar Park Mayor Corbin Van Arsdale, together with City Council member Mike Guevara, sent a letter and a criminal complaint to Williamson County District Attorney Shawn Dick seeking an investigation into Officer Dailey’s alleged misconduct."
