Possible Explosives In Leander Home Prompt SWAT Response
Sheriff's deputies were called to a home along the 2500 block of Kathleen Cove to assess the threat as residents were evacuated for safety.

LEANDER, TX — Williamson County Sheriff's Office deputites were dispatched to a Leander home amid reports it contained possible explosives in the garage, officials said.
The incident occurred just after 10 a.m. at a home along the 2500 block of Kathleen Cove, according to a tweet. Nearby residents were evacuated from their homes as a safety precaution during a standoff with the resident, sheriff's officials reported.
A suspect was placed in custody about an hour later. Residents were then urged to "shelter in place" while police ascertained the threat level posed by the explosives. "We do not believe there is any danger to the public at this time," sheriff's officials wrote at around 1o:55 a.m.

Just before noon, the sheriff's office said via Twitter deputies were removing components that are used to make an explosive, and Kathleen Cove would be closed for several hours as a result. However, officials added, no further evacuations will be needed.

***UPDATE 11:57 a.m.*** The Austin Police Bomb Squad will be removing components to make an explosive from the home. Kathleen Cv. will remain closed for several hours while they complete the removal. Neighbors will not need to evacuate.

***UPDATE*** The suspect is in custody. Neighbors have been asked to shelter in place while APD Bomb Squad makes a determination on the explosives. We do not believe there is any danger to the public at this time.
