Leander Boil Water Notice Canceled

City officials said that testing showed no evidence the public water system was contaminated.

LEANDER, TX — The boil water advisory that was in place for certain parts of Leander has been lifted, the city said on Thursday.

The cancelation applies to all Leander water customers near Bagdad Road and Osage Drive, the city said in a press release.

Leander city officials said that results from bacteriological samples submitted for testing on Wednesday showed no evidence of total coliform or E. coli contamination in the public water system.

Th city provided tips from the CDC that residents should follow once a boil water notice is canceled:

  • Flush pipes and faucets. Run cold water faucets continuously for at least five minutes.
  • Flush water coolers. Run coolers with direct water connections for five minutes.
  • Flush home automatic ice makers. Make three batches of ice cubes and discard all three batches.
  • Run water softeners through a regeneration cycle.
  • Drain and refill hot water heaters set below 113°F.
  • Change all point-of-entry and point-of-use water filters, including those associated with equipment that uses water.
