Man Accused In Mother's Death Arrested In Leander: Police
Police were called to the 12000 block of Hero Way West for reports of a possible stabbing around 2:43 a.m. Wednesday.

LEANDER, TX — Leander police arrested a man they say is accused of stabbing and killing his mother early Wednesday.
The department said 19-year-old Miles Speight was arrested in the area of Lakeline Boulevard and Cougar Country Drive after fleeing the scene of the crime.
Police said they were called to the 12000 block of Hero Way West for reports of a possible stabbing around 2:43 a.m. Wednesday.

There is a large police presence in the area of Hero Way West and Ran Road. Officers are searching for a male suspect possibly armed with a knife that may be on foot in the area. We are asking all residents in the area to stay in their homes and lock their doors.

When officers arrived, they found a woman dead in her home. Authorities said the accused, who is the woman's son, fled the scene on foot before officers arrived.
During the search for Speight, police asked all residents in the area to stay in their homes and lock their doors Wednesday morning. At 7:05 a.m., police reported they found and arrested Speight.

As of 9:22 a.m., Speight has not been processed into Williamson County Jail. Officials said the investigation remains ongoing and charges for Speight are pending.
***Update 03/31/2021 7:05 am*** The suspect was taken into custody by the Cedar Park Police Department. It is now safe for everyone to leave their homes. The investigation is still ongoing and charges are pending. Nothing further at this time.
