Two More Coronavirus-Related Deaths In Williamson County

Two more people have died from COVID-19 in Williamson County, health officials announced Tuesday.

WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TX — Two more people have died from COVID-19 in Williamson County, health officials announced Tuesday, bringing the total number of deaths in the county to seven.

Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell announced the additiona death during a virtual news conference on Tuesday afternoon.

The number of new coronavirus cases to date remains at 287, according to figures that were updated by the Williamson County and Cities Health District Tuesday. Amid the tally of growing illness, health officials noted that 155 patients have recovered from the respiratory illness.

"As joyful as I am that we are beginning to open up Williamson County at the end of this week, we are again reminded of the seriousness of this disease," Gravell said.

The heightened illness count comes two days after the county recorded its biggest single-day rise in coronavirus cases to date — 51 more diagnoses largely attributable to an illness outbreak at a nursing home impacting 46 people.

There are currently eight hospitalized patients with coronavirus-related symptoms in the county. One patient is currently on a ventilator.

  • Austin: 18
  • Cedar Park: 25
  • Georgetown: 33
  • Hutto: 25
  • Leander: 31
  • Round Rock: 124
  • Other cities in Williamson County: 31

The breakdown of cases in Williamson County by age is as follows:

  • 0 to 17: 7
  • 18 to 40: 79
  • 41 to 60: 118
  • Over 60: 82
