Telephone Scam Prompts Warning From Leander Police Department
Law enforcement officials said they have received multiple calls from someone claiming to be a police officer or detective demanding money.
LEANDER, TX — The Leander Police Department is warning residents of a scam involving callers claiming to be law enforcement officials.
Police on Twitter said they have received multiple calls from residents saying they were called from someone claiming to be a police officer or detective demanding money for a missed appointment or court date.
"This is a scam," police wrote succinctly.

Residents receiving such calls should not send money. Instead, potential victims of the scam are urged to call (512) 528-2800 to verify the veracity of the calls.
