Bacliff Man Hospitalized for Meth, 12 Hours Later Busted for PCP

A Bacliff man was hospitalized for a meth overdose and 12 hours later was arrested for possessing PCP.

FRIENDSWOOD, TX — Ivan Glen Murphy is what you might call a slow learner, if the police reports are to be believed.

At around 8: 15 a.m. on the morning of Sunday, Aug. 7, someone called to report a reckless driver on heading southwest on East Parkwood Drive near the intersection with South Friendswood Drive in Friendswood. It seems that the driver was on the nod and was weaving all over the place.

This reckless driver made the turn onto South Friendswood before drifting off the roadway and coming to a stop in a grassy area. When five-oh arrived on the scene they allegedly found Murphy, 36, of Bacliff, passed out in the driver's seat with a bag of meth and a needle in the car.

When the cops searched Murphy's ride they allegedly found more than half-an-ounce of twack. The ground-pounder took Murphy to the hospital where he was treated for an OD.

Apparently, someone forgot to lock Murphy to his bed because not 12 hours later Friendswood PD responded to a disturbance call at a residence in the 300 block of Dawn Hill.

When the boys in blue showed up they found Murphy there, arms wrapped around his wife trying to take her home. According to the police report, Murphy's wife had gone back home to mama after a pretty nasty OD of her own, one Murphy may have been responsible for.

It seems that after Murphy got his bearings, he was released from the hospital. Murphy allegedly called up his buddy David Miles Simms, 28, to help him get his car out of impound.

Once more upon his trusted steed, Murphy rode out to rescue his lady fair — or at least see his old lady again.

Somewhere between the hospital and his in-laws' place, Murphy allegedly stopped off to resupply. When Murphy got to his wife's parents' place and tried to take her home they lost it, which is what brings the cops back into the picture.

The cops note that when they got there Murphy seemed agitated and high strung and appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic, a different one from the one he was on that morning. As an officer walked over to Murphy's car they allegedly observed him place a blue and white container on the driveway.

When asked about it Murphy said it was something he wanted to give his wife, it allegedly turned out to be a half-smoked cigarette dipped in PCP. When the cops field tested the fry stick it allegedly tested positive for PCP.

Murphy then OKed a search of his car, when five-oh tossed it they found five Xanax. When the officers talked to Simms they allegedly found him to be kind of out of it and thought he was also on something.

Simms also allowed five-oh to search him. When he lifted his arms a baggie fell down. The residue in the baggie allegedly field tested positive for PCP, Simms claimed that wasn't possible because he only kept his meth in that particular baggie.

Both Murphy and Simms were arrested. When Murphy was being booked in the cops inventorying his property noticed something odd about a $50 he allegedly had in his wallet. The bill didn't feel right and the ink seemed to be bleeding around the paper.

So on top of the meth charge, the PCP charge and the Xanax charge Murphy also got hit with a forgery case. His bond was set at $45,000. Simms on the other hand was just charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
