Body Washes Up on Galveston Beach
The body of an unidentified male washed up on a Galveston Beach on the afternoon of Tuesday, Aug. 23.

GALVESTON, TX — The body of an unidentified man washed up on a Galveston beach on the afternoon of Tuesday, Aug. 23.
The body was found around 5 p.m. at 37th Street and Seawall Boulevard. Authorities have not released the name of the victim or the cause of death.
The discovery comes just days after officials with the city of Galveston announced that 135,500 gallons of partially treated sewage was unintentionally released into Galveston Bay, and in the middle of what has been a bruising summer for the water around Galveston Island.

Recently, the Galveston County Health District issued an advisory that multiple beaches had elevated bacteria levels. There have also been previous bacterial advisories issued.
Additionally, there have been two separate instances of people becoming infected with flesh eating bacteria in the waters around Galveston. Two more people were infected in the waters around Port Aransas.

A recent report found that the overall health of Galveston Bay is 'adequate,' but that there is definite room for improvement.
