Flooding Forces Texas City Schools To Cancel Classes: Reports

Texas City schools are closed because of flooded roadways while Dickinson and Clear Creek experience delays.

GALVESTON, TX – Officials in the Texas City Independent School District canceled classes Tuesday morning after thunderstorms moving through the area overnight caused flooding. Texas City school officials said several school campuses were surrounded by floodwaters and roads in the area were impassable.

Officials at the College of the Mainland in Texas City also called off classes Tuesday because of the inclement weather and street flooding, while classes in nearby Clear Creek and Dickinson are going on as planned.

Officials in both districts said they were experiencing some delays as school buses navigate flooded neighborhood streets to bring students to their campuses.
