Galveston Students Win World Title in Robotics Competition

A group of students from Ball High School in Galveston clinched the world title in an international robotics competition.

GALVESTON, TX — Students from Ball High School were part of a team that clinched the title at the 2016 Vex Robotics Competition High School World Championship.

Although, the contest was held in Louisville, KY in April, the team's winning round wasn't broadcast on ESPN2 until Wednesday, July 20. Over the last eight years, Ball High School has shed its reputation as an academically under-performing school to become a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics powerhouse.

The school's STEM program includes about half of Ball High's 1,900 students.
