Galveston Wrecker Driver Killed In DWI Crash: Police Say
Dianna Hoyler, 52, is accused of causing the DWI crash that killed Gary DuBose on Saturday night.
GALVESTON, TX — A 52-year-old woman is facing intoxication manslaughter charges after police said she slammed into a DPS patrol car and killed a wrecker driver who was standing nearby.
Dianna Hoyler, who is being treated at UTMB for her injuries from the crash, will be booked into the Galveston County Jail and charged when she is released from the hospital, officials said.
The crash happened about 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Teichman Road and Interstate 45. According to DPS Sgt. Stephen Woodard, DPS Trooper Colin Kolupski had pulled over a driver for speeding into a driveway off the feeder road and was searching the car.

Woodward said the wrecker driver, identified as Gary DuBose of All American Towing, was standing behind Kolupski’s SUV, while the driver of the car was standing in front of the SUV.
Hoyler, who was traveling southbound in a GMC Envoy at a high rate of speed, swerved and ran off the road, and allegedly slammed into the back of Kolupski’s SUV and hit DuBose.

Woodward said the driver of the car who was being searched, was hit when the force of the impact pushed the DPS patrol SUV into him.
Kolupski, who is also an EMT, ran to DuBose and began CPR as he called for emergency assistance.
The man who was the subject of the initial stop was taken to UTMB where he was in stable condition.
Hoyler was also taken to UTMB where a blood draw as performed, Woodward said.
