Huge Marijuana Grow Operation Busted By Narcotics Task Force

Investigators estimate 3,400 marijuana plants found at two locations had a street value of more than $5 million.

ANGLETON, TX -- An investigation by the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force led to the discovery of massive marijuana grow operation.

Investigators executed two search warrants in the Planters Point subdivision Tuesday morning and seized more than 3,400 marijuana plants. (Sign up for Patch’s daily newsletter for your neighborhood.)

Officials said the first home, where 3,000 of the plants were seized, contained a sophisticated hydroponic system that appeared to be built specifically for harvesting marijuana.

The second home, where 434 plants were seized, was also a hydroponic system.

Investigators have not announced any arrests in this case.

The task force, which was assisted by agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division, estimated the operation had a street value of $5.1 million.
