Kemah Says Goodbye To Beloved Chief Chris Reed

A public procession for Chief Chris Reed took place in Kemah on Friday morning, allowing residents to pay their final respects.

KEMAH, TX — The City of Kemah said goodbye on Friday to Police Chief Chris Reed in public memorial service. The memorial service for Reed was held at 10 a.m. at the Clear Creek Community Church, in League City.

Reed drowned June 7 after he fell from a fishing boat about a mile from the Texas City Dike. His body was recovered two days later about a half mile from where he vanished.

Reed had only been ion the job for two years when he died unexpectedly, but he was well known for his work in League City, Nassau Bay, and the Clear Creek ISD where he helped inspire the next generation of leaders.

A public procession was held with residents lining the route, allowing everyone to bid farewell as Reed took his final ride through Kemah.

Reed was a retired Army paratrooper, a former city manager for League City and Nassau Bay, and he was a mixed martial arts fighter. He leaves behind a wife, a son and two daughters.
