Lone Star Rally Gets Underway On Galveston Island
The Lone Star Rally attracts thousands to Galveston Island each year and generates millions into the local economy.

GALVESTON, TX — The thunderstorms that rolled though the Houston area on Wednesday have delayed the start of Galveston island’s annual Lone Star Rally. City leaders said tents that were set up Wednesday were damaged by high winds that accompanied the storms hours earlier.
Officials said the damages only delayed the start time by about two hours. The Lone Star Rally — Galveston’s annual motorcycle rally — attracts thousands to the islands historic district each year, and generates millions into the local economy.

Other events at the Lone Star Rally include the In Motion Invitational, which features the industries top bike builders, and the Miss Lone Star Rally.
Rally attendees are also invited to attend the dedication of the Guy Wallace Taylor statue. Taylor, who served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War, was known to play taps with his bugle from the balcony at 2101 Post office St., until his death in February 2017. The dedication will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at 2101 Post office St.
