Multiple Galveston Beaches Under Advisory
About 12 of the 52 beach water testing sites around Galveston County under advisory for bacteria levels.

GALVESTON, TX — About 12 of the 52 beach water quality testing sites throughout Galveston County are under advisory because of heightened bacterial levels. The increase in bacteria could be related to the recent rainfall.
The sites check for elevated levels of enterococcus bacteria, which is used as a gauge to asses the overall bacterial count in each area. Enterococcus alone can cause antibiotic resistant bacterial meningitis, the other types of bacteria in the water could be flesh devouring.
