Nassau Bay PD Gets NRA Grant to Buy Handguns
The NRA Foundation is giving the Nassau Bay Police Department a grant to arm its officers.

NASSAU BAY, TX — The NRA Foundation is giving the Nassau Bay Police Department a grant worth more than $2,500 to equip officers with handguns.
Previously, Nassau Bay, like many area departments, had required officers to provide their own firearms. Putting the onus of handgun ownership on the individual officers allowed the city to save taxpayer dollars, but the variety of weapons in play created problems.

There have been concerns that since officers were using different makes and models of guns that, if necessary, they wouldn't be able to share magazines. Standardizing weapons across the force will allow the department to make magazines interchangeable.
Additionally, with every officer using the same type of gun there won't be any difficulty in using another officers' weapon.
