Police Arrest Ex-Employee For Robbing The Spot In Galveston

GALVESTON, TX -- A 24-year-old former employee of The Spot on Galveston Island has been charged with robbing the popular bar and eatery in February. According to police, Edmon Jerome Wells stormed into the restaurant with his face covered and waving a revolver at employees and customers.

The robbery happened at The Spot, located in the 3200 block of Seawall Blvd at about 1 a.m. on Feb. 20, as the place was closing for the night.

Witnesses told police that Wells came in demanding cash and forced customers and employees to get on their knees before forcing a 19-year-old man to open the safe.

Once Wells got what he wanted, he hit the 19-year-old employee in the head with his weapon, and fired a shot inside the restaurant as he fled, witnesses said. The man who was hit with the gun required medical attention and had to get staples in his head, ABC-13 reported.

Wells is in the Galveston County Jail and is charged with aggravated robbery and making terroristic threat.
