Possibly 9,500 Patients Exposed To Infections In Galveston Area

A report indicates that between 9,000 -9,500 Galveston County residents may have been exposed to diseases at 2 Galveston County Clinics

GALVESTON, TX — Two Galveston County clinics are under investigation after authorities said they exposed as many as 9,500 patients to infections within their facilities.

Officials with the Galveston County Health District said staff members at the Coastal Health and Wellness Clinics in Texas City and Galveston had failed at maintaining adequate infection control practices.

The information came to light following an accredation survey that revealed patients who visited the clinics between March 2015 and February 2018 may have been exposed to HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C, according to a KTRK report.

Officials said that so far, there is no information that links infections to any of the clinics.
