Who Killed Teresa Custer? Texas City Woman Killed During Hold-up

Teresa Custer was working as a hotel manager in Texas City when someone shot and killed her days before Christmas 2018.

TEXAS CITY, TX — Teresa Custer celebrated her last Christmas with her family in 2017. She wasn't able to celebrate Christmas 2018 with her three children because someone murdered her during an armed robbery three days before Christmas.

Now police in Texas City want to find the person responsible for this heinous crime. Investigators said that on Dec. 22, 2018, Custer, 37, was working her shift as the manager at the Fairfield Inn and Suites, in the 10700 block of Emmett F. Lowry Expressway.

At about 6:40 a.m., a masked gunman came into the hotel lobby and shot Custer before fleeing the scene in a white pickup.

When police arrived minutes later, they found Custer wounded and called EMS to the scene. Custer was flown by LifeFlight to an area hospital, but she died the next day

In the aftermath of this killing, Fairfield Inn set up a GoFundMe page that raised nearly $16,000 to help with final expenses.

Police said the suspect was a black man, between 5-feet 8-inches and 5-feet 10-inches tall, who fled the scene in a white pickup truck.
