Charges Could Be Filed In Case Of Baby Found In Dumpster: Police

The newborn baby was found in a plastic bag in a dumpster in Hurst, police said. He is reported to be in good condition.

HURST, TX — Police in Hurst announced Monday criminal charges could be filed in the case of a living baby found in a dumpster last week after an investigation turned up more details into the case, including events leading up to the baby being found in the dumpster.

A store employee working at the Souper Salad in the 900 block of Melborne Road told police that a coworker has possibly had a miscarriage in the restaurant's bathroom. The witness reported seeing the 28-year-old woman carrying a plastic bag out to the dumpster shortly after.

Medics arrived and began treating the woman at the scene. Police said she had given birth in the bathroom.

Officers later found the newborn baby, a boy, in a plastic garbage bag at the bottom of a dumpster. The infant was awake and crying, police said.

The woman and baby were both taken to local hospitals for treatment, where the baby was reported to be in good condition.
