Gas Leak Prompts Evacuation, Road Closure In Denton
Northbound lanes of I-35W other nearby roadways remain closed. Students at a nearby church have been safely evacuated.

DENTON, TX — Police in Denton have closed roadways and evacuated a church after a gas leak was reported in the 200 block of S. Locust Street Wednesday morning.
Police said on Twitter that students from the church school at First United Methodist Church Denton have been evacuated safely to the lobby of a nearby bank.
As of writing, southbound lanes of I-35 West are back open. Northbound left lanes of the interstate remain closed. Crawford Road, under I-35 West are completely closed.

Police said the gas company is on the scene and working to rectify the situation.

Evacuations in the area are temporary and only precautionary in nature. Locust is back open but Industrial St is closed between Sycamore and Mulberry. Students from the church school will return to class after the ”all clear” is given.
