One Survives Denton County Shooting That Left Five Dead: Report

Sources report one man entered the home and shot his ex-wife, her boyfriend and three children.

PONDER, TX — An investigation is underway after a man entered a Ponder, Texas, home and shot his ex-wife, three children and the woman's boyfriend before taking his own life, officials said. The woman was the sole survivor.

The shooting happened Wednesday morning in the 600 block of Lone Star Park Lane and left neighbors in the usually quiet community shaken.

The two men killed were identified as 39-year-old Justin Painter of Fort Worth and 29-year-old Seth Richardson of Lancaster, S.C., the Dallas Morning News reported.

Ponder ISD officials told The News none of the district’s students were listed as living at home where the shootings occurred.

The woman shared a video on her Facebook page in which she shows a photo of her three children while saying she hoped they "knew that I loved them," The News wrote.

An investigation led by the Ponder Police Department, and with help from the Denton County Sheriff's Office, is underway.
