Cheers, Texas! 'The Dallas Observer' Picks DFW's 100 Best Bars

DALLAS, TX— Such is the life of the unsung reporter. He or she drops in on 100 bars throughout the city, sampling everything from the temperature of a PBR to the tartness of the house margarita, the quality of cherry in that Manhattan or the craftiness of your local microbrew.

Sigh. Somebody's gotta do it.

In this case, the somebodies are the diligent journalists with high-functioning livers at The Dallas Observer.

And the results are well worth printing, or saving in your phone, so that the next time you're bored and looking to tipple, you can rely on the advice of trained professionals.

Now that quarantine is in the rearview mirror, the entire metroplex is in a mood to mix and mingle, and as the researchers wisely point out, there are lots of reasons people enjoy a few drinks (and often, those reasons are more than just the names of the teenagers under your roof).

Some like karaoke. Others prefer a quiet booth with overstuffed cushions that bring to mind a Jack Ruby joint on a slow night. Still others prefer a bustling sports bar or the magic hands of a veteran mixologist at work. No matter.

Wisely these researchers didn't fall into the trap of ranking these watering holes. They are simply listed alphabetically with their merits briefly mentioned.

Two things that are indisputably true: One, people drink when they're happy and when they're not. The other is that no one bar is best for everybody. Your favorite may not be on this list, of course. But if you can't find a dozen or more worth trying, you may just want to have a nice glass of wine at home.
