City Of Fort Worth: Trinity Metro Provided Nearly 40,000 Free Rides For Job Seekers

To help people whose livelihood was impacted by COVID-19, Trinity Metro has provided nearly 40,000 free rides to job seekers since beginning the program last September. Throughout the pandemic, many Tarrant County residents suffered job losses and have been looking for new opportunities.

“We are very aware that many people are still seeking employment, so are continuing to provide free rides to job fairs and interviews on all of our services,” said Wayne Gensler, vice president and chief operating officer of bus and paratransit. “We want to lend a helping hand and support our community.”

The program has been well used, with a record-high ridership of 4,944 in March. Customers simply provide a communication from the hiring company to the bus operator or train conductor. Examples include a document (email or text or flyer) indicating the date of the interview from the hiring company and/or job fair. On the day of the interview or job fair, the rider will show the document and ID to the bus operator or train conductor.

Free rides are available on all buses, trains, ACCESS and ZIPZONE services in Tarrant County. ZIPZONE riders will need to enter a code when booking their ride. To obtain a one-time code for a round trip on ZIPZONE, call customer care at 817-215-8600 and provide information about the time, date and location of the interview or job fair, and the representative will give you a code.
