Dallas School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Dallas is August 28. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Dallas Independent School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

• 8/16 - 8/25: Teacher Prep Days
• 8/28: First Day of School

September

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)

October

• 10/9: Grades 9-12 Parent Conferences
• 10/10: Grades 6-8 Parent Conferences
• 10/12: Grades PreK-5 Parent Conferences
• 10/13: No School for Students
• 10/20: No School for Students

November

• 11/20 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Break)

December

• 12/4 - 12/8: STAAR Testing Dates
• 12/22 - 1/5: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/1 - 1/5: No School (Winter Break)
• 1/8: No School for Students (Staff Development)
• 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
• 1/18: Grades PreK - 5 Parent Conferences
• 1/22: Grades 9-12 Parent Conferences
• 1/23: Grades 6-8 Parent Conferences

February

• 2/19: No School (Presidents' Day)

March

• 3/12 - 3/16: No School (Spring Break)
• 3/30: Inclement Weather Makeup Day
