Dallas Area Welcomes The Most Out-Of-State Residents

DALLAS, TX --The Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metro area recorded the highest number of incoming residents from out-of-state (230,118 people), followed by Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land (203,279) in 2017, according to a report released this month. Texas gained more than 500,000 new residents from out of state for the fifth year in a row, according to the Texas Relocation Reportfrom Texas Realtors. The report was compiled using data from the U.S. Census Bureau and U-Haul.

"Texas welcomed 524,511 new residents in 2017. This is less than the number of out-of-state residents who moved to Texas in 2016 (531,996)," the report stated. " The net gain of out-of-state residents in Texas in 2017 fell from 87,656 in 2016 to 57,173 residents in 2017."

Here are some other findings from the Texas Relocation Report specific to Dallas:

• No. 2 county for total inflow of residents from other Texas counties
• No. 2 county for total outflow of residents moving to other Texas counties
• No. 40 county for net inflow of Texas residents
• No. 2 county for total new residents from out of state
• No. 2 county for total local residents leaving Texas
• No. 4 county for net new residents from out of state
