Hot Dog! The Perfect Summer Stick Food Just Got An Upgrade

You won't believe what's new in this Dallas State Fair corn dog made by Fletcher's. It just might be the best fast food idea of the year

Nothing beats a hot dog in the summertime — unless it's a Texas corn dog. And the newest Fletcher's Corny Dog may outdo them all.

DALLAS —For some, the first signs of summer are in nature — the arrival of new grass and leaves, the reappearance of bluebirds and cardinals. For others, it's the sounds of kids playing outdoors until sunset waiting to be called in by their parents.

For others, it's the return of summer carnivals and fairs. And nothing says summer like a hot dog. And nothing says Texas summer like the humble corn dog.

And just when you think this golden goddess couldn't get any more seductive, along comes Dallas' impresario of all things corn dog. Long a State Fair staple, Fletcher's Original Corny Dogs has something new to lure you.

This pooch on a stick is perched on a little secret, too. It's made (wait for it) with genuine Texas brisket.

Wait, you're saying. You had me at corn dog.

The newest addition to the Fletcher family was created as wish fulfillment for customers asking for just such a delicacy. Developed in consultations with Ponder, Texas purveyor of meats Syracuse Sausage, the recipe is unique to Fletcher's and ushers in the savory flavor of hickory as ideally paired to their corn batter as a croque madame is to a French white wine.

The new treat is described as "more robust" in terms of flavor, but you can't know that for certain until you've dunked it in yellow mustard and experienced it for yourself.

According to a statement from company CEO Aaron Fletcher, the seasoning "is similar to The Original [Corny Dog] but the brisket and beef adds a much heartier Texas flavor that beef eaters are sure to love."

Their OG hot dog, still a great seller, is a delectable combo of pork and beef and was created at the height of World War II. Since then, Fletcher's has met the market for other options with both turkey and veggie corn dogs.

Not only will the new dogs be on the mobile pop-up menu; they'll be on the catering menu for pick up and delivery as well. And the best news of all: if it's as good as it sounds and the public agrees, Fletcher's promises to keep it around for many a summer to come.

Check out their new corn dog and say hello to summer a bit early at their pop-up appearances:
