Remains Found Confirmed To Be Christina Morris: Police

'This is the most difficult day that I've ever faced in my entire life,' Morris' mom said in a press conference.

ANNA, TX — The human remains found Wednesday in a field in Anna, Texas, are those of Christina Morris, police confirmed Thursday afternoon in a press conference.

Her remains were discovered by an excavation crew working to clear a brushy area near Taylor Boulevard. The area has been extensively searched during the almost three and one-half years since her disappearance.

At the conference, Morris' mother, Jonni Hare, said she knows her daughter is proud of her family for their relentless search to bring her home.

"This, I must say, is the most difficult day that I've ever faced in my entire life," she said through tears. "I know my daughter — I know our daughter — is in a better place. I know she's in heaven. I know she's proud of us for not giving up. I know she's smiling."

Hare asked for respect and privacy as the family deals with the shattering news they received Thursday.

"I just want everybody to know — please respect our privacy," she said. "Please understand that we need to grieve; we need to heal; we need our time."

Morris' sister, Sarah Estes, also addressed reporters.

"We never wanted closure — even if there is such a thing. We only wanted Christina," she said.

Morris was last seen in August 2014 with one-time acquaintance Enrique Arochi. According to a Dallas Morning News report, Morris was seen in a parking garage with Arochi at Plano's Shops at Legacy just before 4:00 a.m. on August 30, 2014.

Arochi was sentenced in September 2016 for her aggravated kidnapping after traces of her DNA were found in the truck of his car.

An Anna community member posted on the Facebook page "Help Find Christina Morris" that she had organized a prayer service and vigil for the remains.

The service is scheduled for Thursday at 7:30 p.m. on the corner of Mesquite Lane and Sweet Gum Road, near where the remains were found.

An ongoing investigation is being conducted by Anna and Plano Police departments along with the Collin County Sheriff's Department.

Authorities described the remains as a partial skeleton.
