Richardson Police Recognized For Sherin Mathews Case

A community group recognized police in Richardson for their investigative efforts into the case of the 3-year-old girl.

RICHARDSON, TX — Investigators in Richardson will be presented Tuesday with a plaque honoring them for their work in the case of Sherin Mathews, the 3-year-old who was found dead after her father falsely reported her missing in early October.

The plaque was provided by a group of community members who also organized a memorial service and commissioned a bench in memory of Sherin.

The plaque recognized Richardson Police Department for the "hard work and dedication" in the case.

It read: "We share in your grief and healing. Thank you for your commitment in protecting and serving the citizens of Richardson."

Various media outlets report the results of Sherin's autopsy could be available in the next 10 days. The results of the autopsy could result in additional charges filed against Sherin's parents, who are both jailed on different charges relating to the night she went missing.
