NRA Head Reportedly Sought To Buy This Texas Mansion

WESTLAKE, TX — The Dallas-area mansion located in a gated community that NRA head Wayne LaPierre reportedly wanted the organization to buy for him is still on the market.

LaPierre wanted to buy the mansion after the shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, last year because he was worried about being targeted, The Washington Post reported, citing people familiar with the discussions.

According to the Post, though the mansion was ultimately not purchased, the discussions are under scrutiny by the New York Attorney General's Office, which is investigating the organization's tax-exempt status.

The transaction to buy the home, which cost $6 million at the time, was going to be made through a corporate entity that received a wire of $70,000 from the National Rifle Association, according to the Post. The paper also reported that the $70,000 was ultimately returned to the NRA.

The mansion is now on the market for a price of $4.75 million.
