Survey proves Texans Care about Engagement Ring Size

If size matters, Texans are saying yes.

Everything’s bigger in Texas and when it comes to engagement rings, there’s no excuse.

The team at Shane Co. surveyed over 3,400 Americans across the country asking them how much diamond size mattered to them when it came to proposals.

They found Texas was among the top three states where diamond size mattered the most. In front of the Lone Star State was Tennessee which took the top spot, followed by New Jersey. Looking at the alternative, states where diamond size isn’t a deal breaker for them included Montana, Mississippi and Iowa.

Putting the map aside, they also looked at gender. They found that men cared more about diamond size than women! Another shocking statistic being that the proposer cared more about the size than the person being proposed to.

Now looking at the features of the ring, the respondents were asked what they thought was the most important feature of an engagement ring overall. Close to 20% (19.9) said diamond size, while over 16% (16.6) said carat size, followed by clarity (14.5%) and color (12.7%). When it came to shopping for the ring, beauty and style reigned supreme at 32% of people saying that’s the most important factor, closely followed by quality at 29%.

Final shocking statistics coming out of this survey are how blunt people were about if they received a ring that wasn’t up to their standards. 4.3 out of every 10 people said the size of the diamond would impact how likely they were to accept the proposal by their significant other. While 36% of people would ask their significant other to buy a bigger carat if they weren’t satisfied with the size!

Overall, this survey answered the long-time question: Does size matter? Well, you can ask any Texan and see what they say!
