DALLAS, TX —Dashawn Robertson, better known as the Dallas rapper Lil Loaded, is dead at age 20.

Robertson's lawyer, Ashkan Mehryari, confirmed rumors of the rapper's death to Billboard magazine on Memorial Day. Mehryari told the magazine that suicide was believed to be the cause of death.

In life, Lil Loaded was an internet sensation, best known for his 2019 viral success, "6locc 6a6y," which reached gold status only last week as certified by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). His music since then has been made available on Epic Records.

Lil Loaded was also in legal trouble at the time of his death. He was arrested in 2020 in the shooting death of Khalil Walker, who was only 18 then he died. Robertson/Loaded was charged with murder.

In February, according to the Dallas Morning News, he was actually indicted on charges of manslaughter instead of murder. In its indictment, the Dallas County grand jury states that Robertson "recklessly caused" the 18-year old's death. Walker died of a rifle shot to the torso.

Attorney Mehryari suggests that Walker's death was a result of misadventure or accident and that the pair were friends. He said there was "no malice" between the two.

Lil Loaded was a San Bernardino, California native who moved as a Michael Jackson fan to Dallas as a child. In an interview with XXL in 2019, Robertson credited Jackson — "the King of Pop" — with "the whole singing/rapping thing. That's where it originally came from for me."

Among his other influences: Tupac, Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg, Chief Keef, Rich Homie Quan and The Game.
