14 Inmates, 2 Travis County Sheriff Employees Have COVID-19
The Travis County Sheriff's Office reports 16 new COVID-19 cases at its office and jail on March 1.
AUSTIN, TX — The Travis County Sheriff's Office reported 16 new coronavirus cases at its office and jail on Monday.
The department announced 14 inmates and two sheriff's office employees were confirmed positive with the virus.
The sheriff's office said there are 308 confirmed positive cases and four pending cases of COVID-19 in the Travis County Jail.

As of March 1, 16 inmates are positive with the virus, 23 inmates are in quarantine and 289 inmates are in isolation. The Travis County Jail population is 1,704.
The agency said 50 law enforcement officers, 140 corrections officers and 61 administrators and support workers have been confirmed with COVID-19.

The sheriff's office has conducted 2,687 tests as of March 1.
