ABOUT KANTOR: Victim In Texas Mass Shooting Was Hudson Valley Native

Authorities concluded White's involvement based on multiple interviews, ballistic evidence and video footage of the incident, officials said.

Travis County District Attorney Jose Garza said Thursday his office will present White's case to a Travis County grand jury requesting that he be charged with murder and multiple counts of aggravated assault.

While under Texas law, the facts do not at this time support a capital murder charge, officials said. The District Attorney’s office will be requesting that White be held in custody while awaiting trial.

“We know this has been a scary and stressful time, and appreciate our community's patience throughout the investigation," said Garza. "Based on both forensic and eyewitness testimony, we have full confidence that the person responsible for the shooting has been arrested and is no longer a danger to our community. At this time, we believe that Mr. White was the only shooter.”

White was one of the individuals who got into a disagreement with another group of people from Killeen early that morning on Sixth Street, according to Interim Police Chief Joseph Chacon.

Chacon said the mass shooting was the culmination of a disagreement between two groups of individuals from Killeen that began days prior to the incident.

Following the shooting, White and a 17-year-old, who was previously arrested but dismissed of charges in connection with the shooting, fled to an apartment and discussed the shooting, Chacon said.

Multiple witnesses said they saw White in possession of the gun that killed Kantor, Chacon said.
